July Update - Trucks and Crystals

NEWSLETTER - JULY 2026 Hello Reader, My 3-year-old son, Wilder, is currently obsessed with two things: trucks and crystals. Everywhere we go, he’s got a truck in hand and pockets lined with precious gemstones. Last week we went to San Antonio for a short summer vacation. We stayed at a beautiful Airbnb in the historic district, and it even though it was right by the river walk and had a pool, the prevailing family experience was it was HOT. So hot, in fact, that when we all piled into my truck to explore downtown, the engine wouldn’t turn. The battery was toasted. After a cooldown and a small pity party and some compassionate nudging from my pregnant wife, I brushed off my “asking for help” muscles. Kevin the landscaping worker across the street came to the rescue with a jump. We soldiered on, and adventured out to the downtown library. Exiting the parking garage, it happened again. This time, the jumper cable hero was a scowling, heavily-tattooed stranger who seemed surprised that I would even ask. I was getting good at this! Surely my lesson was over… The next morning we went for a stroll down the riverwalk before checking out of our Airbnb. We walk by the truck (now safely tucked into a shady spot), and lo and behold, yep a BIG OL’ FLAT TIRE. My wife and I both laughed! This time I jumped right into action, no grumbling, no woe-is-me. Grabbed the spare, down to business. Miguel, another landscaping angel, came right over and started helping change the tire without me even asking. But my favorite part of this saga? I head over to a tire shop on the other side of the tracks, a few miles from where we’re staying. Across the street from the tire shop, I see a big, colorful mural emblazoned with crystals. I look closer at the storefront sign: Yes that is the actual logo of Clay’s Automotive Repair and Crystal Shop, a truck with crystals sticking out of the back. What in the wiggly world?? On our way out, we brought my son into the crystal shop and Clay told us all about the strange business combo - his passion for auto repair, his grown-up sons’ love of crystals, and how his 4-year-old grandson is a “rock head” just like his dad. Somehow, it was all perfect. Now Accepting New ClientsI love this work. I love sharing the tools I have learned; helping my clients navigate their inner world and then watching that ripple out into their external world in remarkable ways. And I also remember feeling SO NERVOUS to begin my inner exploration. It might not be time. But if you are feeling that call - what the Gurdjieff work calls "magnetic center" pulling you towards working on yourself - then I would love to explore with you.
